Back Up and Running: Thank You For Everything!

Hello all you curious little buns out there! ☆*・゜゚・*(^O^)/*・゜゚・*☆

Some of you may be reading this after the closure of my YouTube channel. Some of you have been incredibly dedicated and followed me on Twitter long before the channel was created because you enjoyed what I wrote, and decided to stay with me during that long hiatus. Some of you are from the old guard on Tumblr that began following me for my fan translations. Yet I would wager that most of the eyeballs reading this article have landed on my website for the very first time, and therefore have no idea what I’m blabbering about.

Regardless of why you’re here I have both a lot of gratitude and apologies to give.

The gratitude is more obvious: I just want to give a huge thank you to everyone who spends or has spent their limited free time on the things that I make and do. However it’s precisely because I know that free time is precious that I feel the need to apologize, particularly to the people that have been following me for the last year across the internet. I’ve been trying my hand at many things since Spring 2016: I delved into fandom translation, I tried managing a hardball review website, and I tried being a let’s player on YouTube. All of these things were done for a myriad of reasons; the primary being that I was trying to find myself again after a rather long episode (we’re talking… two or three years, I think?) of some fierce depression.

I won’t get into the details as I’m sure most people don’t care or want them, however at the end of the day while I feel that all of this experimentation was exactly what I needed, I still got other people involved along the way. As I have already said people have spent their time on me. People have become invested in me. I’ve had people like the good folks of Chief Puzzle Officer give me their time for a written interview only to not use it. There were even a handful of people who made me part of their daily routine. And as of right now I have yet to prove that I am worth that investment, because I have yet to prove that I can stick to something and truly develop it. If can’t do that, then how can I expect anyone to care about anything I do?

It’s because of all of this that I sincerely apologize. However I can’t say “thank you” enough to the people who have stuck around despite the chaos. Every one of you is amazing, and remind me of just how kind people can be.

So! With all of that out of the way, here is what to expect on dreadrabbit.com from now on:

What kind of content can I expect?

Fangirl Musings:

Writings in which I get to be analytical and nerd out with all of you over stuff I love! The primary focus will mostly be on gaming and the gaming industry, however I plan to touch on things like anime and books when the opportunity strikes. These writings will follow along the same line of logic as the video essays of the same name I started on my YouTube channel before having to close it. Industry criticisms, reviews, character analysis, and just overall opinion pieces will fall under this category.

Gaming Journals:

For those that followed me on YouTube for my let’s plays: this is the section for you! While I may no longer be making videos, I do intend to still record my journeys across various games (so yes, I will be finishing the Danganronpa series!). Keeping written journals of my gameplay was actually what lead me to try let’s playing on YouTube in the first place. My first stint was while taking a Game Studies course in university, but my first published gaming journals were actually for Dance with Devils in between my full translation posts.

Original Works:

If you can’t tell already I’m a writer at heart, and it’s where my passions truly lie. I am currently in the process of writing a fantasy fiction novel, and I hope that once I have everything a little more polished I can share that novel here and on Wattpad. Of course I get random, smaller ideas all the time, so I may post random shorter pieces or badly drawn comics from time to time. My shitpost section, if you will! Also don’t expect poetry: I am utter shit at poetry.

Community Spotlight:

I have been very fortunate to have ran into many kind people. People kind enough to make me things because they enjoyed what I do. And I cannot even begin to tell you how happy these creations have made me or how grateful I am that someone thought of me and spent the time to do something like that for me. On my YouTube channel this section was squished together with Fangirl Musings, however I’d like to grant it its own section here on the website that way people can have a choice if they interact with such content or not.

So if you have something you’d like to make in response to anything I do and want to share it, please do feel free to contact me! Because I’m always impressed by what everyone else has to share, so I’m happy to show off this stuff!

Monthly Recap:

That’s what this post is, actually! Though for November the release is a little skewed due to complications getting everything out in time. Essentially at the end of the month these posts will act as kind of a newsletter. In these posts you’ll find website related updates, plans for future content, or even just some life-related drivel that might not fit into any of the other categories. This is more to keep myself organized, however I hope everyone else finds some use in these posts as well.

Perhaps if there’s enough interest I can look into making these actual newsletters for those interested. But for right now I think a regular post is fine.

Dance with Devils translations:

I put this at the bottom of the list because they are my lowest priority right now (sorry DwD fans! m(_ _)m ). I can’t guarantee any deadlines for when these will be posted, however I would at the very least like to finish Rem’s route. Even if it takes me five years or more (>___>).

That’s a lot of content! How are you going to keep up with it all?

I’m going to be very honest here: almost every one of my failings within the last year (going on two now, phew!) has been because I took on more than I could chew. So to be perfectly blunt I don’t intend to follow a strict schedule of hitting a category on certain days of the week like I tried on YouTube. My goal for the short term is to ensure I have at least one or two posts a week, no matter what category they fall under.

I intend to put most of my efforts on my book, however I’d still like to keep a little corner of the internet for me to nerd out in my hobbies with other people, because that was the part of running a translation blog and a YouTube channel that I truly enjoyed the most: getting to share my experiences and getting to hear yours in return.

For right now I plan to essentially do some research: how written blogs work differently from a YouTube channel and finding out what times work best for me in releasing articles. And how I can best do these things without getting in the way of my other writing.

So for the time being everything will be a bit chaotic. However I will absolutely be sharing my posts on Twitter (@DreadRabbit) when they’re available, and will probably share my Fangirl Musings posts on Tumblr when I feel they’re appropriate (Tumblr can be such a hit or miss XD ). Maybe if the opportunity rises and there’s enough interest we can get a reddit or discord going, however that’s not really a priority for me (nor do I expect someone to just pop out of the blue and want to manage one for me).

That is all for this post update! If you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to say hello you are more than welcome to do so in the comments below! Or of course you can hit me up on Twitter.

Once again: thank you all so much for stopping by, and I will see you next time. See you later! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
